By the hour.

Some work has no set size. Negotiating changes with a label, sorting out a member leaving, trademarking a band name or getting a sync license signed for a film, show or ad can take one round or ten. That work is billed by the hour, Dana at $225 and Marcus at $210. You get a written estimate first, and we tell you before the bill goes past it. If you want us to negotiate the changes from a flat-fee read, that part is hourly too. Priya doesn’t bill by the hour. Government filing fees, such as for a trademark or copyright registration, are passed on at cost.

Audits, for a share of what comes back.

Most contracts let you audit the payer’s books once a year, but at your own cost, and that cost is why many artists never do one. When a statement review finds enough to chase, we can do the audit for 25% of what’s recovered instead of billing by the hour. Before we start, we both sign a letter that sets out the terms, including which costs come off and whether they come off before or after our 25% is worked out, what you’d owe if nothing comes back, what our share is if the claim ends up in court, and who does the accounting if your contract requires a CPA. If your contract bars an auditor who is paid out of what the audit finds, we tell you before you sign the letter. At the end, we both sign a closing statement showing what came back, what costs came off and how it was split. Some audits recover a lot and some recover nothing.
