Send it before you sign it.
Upload the contract or tell us about it, and say when you have to answer. We call you within two business days of it arriving. That first call is free and takes about twenty minutes.
Got it, thanks.
We check that we don’t already work for the other side, then call you within two business days. If we can’t help, we say so on that call. We aren’t your lawyers until we both sign an engagement letter, so please don’t let a deadline pass waiting on us.
This is a concept site, so nothing was sent.
Upstairs on Waterloo Rd.
We’re in Collinwood, through the side door and up one flight of stairs. Park on the street. If stairs are hard for you, tell us when you book and we’ll meet by video or somewhere nearby with no stairs.

Questions.
Do you work for labels?
No. On records and publishing we work for artists, songwriters and producers, never for labels or publishers. A producer or a venue can be on the other side of your deal, though, so we check who we already work for before anyone reads your contract, and tell you if we can’t help.
What if the band can’t agree?
On a band agreement or a split sheet, we work for everyone who signs, and each of you agrees to that in writing before we start. If you later want different things, we can’t take sides, so we step back and suggest separate lawyers.
Do you work for the band and the venue on the same show?
No. Marcus reads show contracts for bands or for rooms, never both sides of the same show.
Does sending a contract make you my lawyer?
No. That starts when we both sign an engagement letter saying what we’ll do and what it costs. Until then, the free call is for working out whether we can help, and it isn’t advice about your deal.
Is what I send kept private?
Yes. We keep what you send confidential even if we never work together, and only the people who need to read it will see it.
We’re not from Ohio. Can you still help?
Often, yes. Dana and Marcus are licensed in Ohio. Copyright is federal law, so the same statute applies in every state. A federal trademark registration covers the whole country, except in any area where someone was already using the name before you filed. The contract itself is usually governed by one state’s law, which it names. If your deal needs a lawyer licensed there or where you are, we’ll say so on the first call.
I’ve already signed. Is it too late?
Send it anyway. We can tell you what it says and whether anything can still change, though sometimes the honest answer is that it stands.
How soon will I hear from you?
We call within two business days. Once we’ve both signed the engagement letter, your page of changes usually reaches you within five business days, sooner if your deadline needs it. If you have to answer in less than two business days, call (216) 555-0148 and tell us the date.
